6th through 12th graders (and even the younger grades!) are invited to come learn about volunteer needs in our community. This is a great event for 11th and 12th graders to find opportunities for the DP's CAS Project.

Parents, sign up HERE to help out during the event!

Meridian is hosting it's 3rd annual "Volunteer Fair" in the Mays Cafeteria from 1:00-3:00pm. Come and visit booths hosted by non-profit, volunteer agencies from all over the county to learn about opportunities for serving our local community!

A note from Ms. Holcombe

Action Requested: The junior class will have a SOCIAL at Mighty Fine Burgers immediately after the fair from 3:30-5:00pm. This is not a school-sponsored event. I am looking for a parent to volunteer to be the "host" for this event which basically means show up and help the families find each other, mingle and be nice, etc. I was originally going to do this but I am headed to Houston to help my mom and sis clean up the garage after they got 3" of water from Harvey! PLEASE can someone help me out? Thanks in advance! Please set a reminder to come to the Volunteer Fair this Saturday, Sept 9th! [email protected]

What's CAS?

Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP).

Studied throughout the Diploma Programme, CAS involves students in a range of activities alongside their academic studies.

The three strands of CAS, which are often interwoven with particular activities, are characterized as follows:

Creativity – arts, and other experiences that involve creative thinking.

Activity – physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, complementing academic work elsewhere in the DP.

Service – an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity and autonomy of all those involved are respected.

In order to demonstrate these concepts, students are required to undertake a CAS Project.
