Tennis General Information

We are excited to share information for the 2017-2018 tennis season.

About Meridian Tennis

Meridian Tennis - 2017 TCSAAL State Champions! Both our Boys' Varsity and Girls' Varsity teams are state champions! Meridian tennis players hold 15 state championships for 2017! We look forward to another successful season of Meridian Tennis!

Meridian Tennis is made possible by partnering with Georgetown Tennis Center. Both the Fall Developmental Tennis Program and the Spring Tennis season are open to all 7th-12th grade Meridian students. Meridian Tennis is a no-cut program. Everyone who wants to participate in Fall Developmental Tennis and/or Spring Tennis can!

Although Meridian Tennis is a no-cut program for the regular season, we are limited to how many tennis players can participate in the State Tennis Tournament. Therefore, there will be two-day tryouts for all tennis players interested in competing on the Meridian Tennis State Tournament Team. Attending both days is required for consideration on the State Tennis Team. See Tryouts below for more information.

Meridian's Fall Tennis program is designed to introduce tennis skills to new players as well as help experienced tennis players prepare for tryouts. Fall Tennis is being offered as a full season or half season. Student athletes participating in other sports might find the half season an ideal option, allowing them to compete in their Fall sport while training for the Tennis tryouts in January, 2018.

The Spring Tennis season includes interscholastic matches. All practices are held at the Georgetown Tennis Center. See the Practice page for more information. Practices utilize several courts and are instructed by assistant coaches while being overseen by head coach, Pete Polkinghorn. No transportation will be provided by Meridian School or its employees to practices or matches. Parents are encouraged to network to make their own arrangements.

Parents are invited to observe practices on the courts. However, parents are not allowed on the court during matches.
