Overview

For the 2024-2025 season, Meridian Athletics plans to form a Fierce Dance Team that will be open to rising 7th-12th grade students. Additionally, we plan to have Dance Team Officers, which will be open to rising 9th-12th grade students and is equivalent to Varsity for Dance Team, with more practices and higher-level competitions. Participation in Pre-Tryout Practices and Tryouts is required to be considered for a team. (See dates below.)

Important Dates

Tu, 4/16 - Registration opens for the 2024-2025 season.

F, 4/19 from 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. - Zoom info session for parents/guardians. Attendance is strongly recommended!

W., 4/24 at 9:00 p.m. - Registration ends for the 2024-2025 season.

W., 4/24 - Physical forms due. Learn more.

Tu, 4/30, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Learn compulsory routine.

Th., 5/2, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Practice compulsory routine.

F., 5/3, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Practice compulsory routine.

Sat., 5/4, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Tryouts

M, 5/6, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Results posted on Tryouts webpage

Tu, 5/7, 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. - Zoom meeting with team and parents/guardians

Tu, 5/7 - Invoices for participation fees are issued via MySchoolBucks

Sun, 5/12 - Participation fees due by MySchoolBucks (or first payment if on a payment plan)

6/3 - 7/14 - Athletics Department closed for summer. Please plan accordingly.

M, 7/22 - Th. 7/26 - Summer Dance Camp - learn the year’s choreography (includes Officers). See Practices.

Th., 8/8 - First practice of the school year

Sat. 8/24 - Auditions for competitions. (The routines learned in the Summer Dance Camp should be mastered by this date.)

Competitions & Performances

The Fierce Dance Team will compete in three categories in three competitions. (New for 2024-2025! A 3rd competition!) Dance Officers will compete in one additional category at the Varsity level at all three competitions. The competition season is late January through March. As soon as the competitions are open for registration, they will be booked and the Dance Team’s competition schedule will be updated.

Registration - NOW OPEN!

Registration is now open and ends on Wednesday, April 24 at 9 p.m. on 5/9. No late registrations will be accepted for students who are enrolled in Meridian School during the registration period.

Minimum Participants

Minimums needed for teams to form:

Dance Team - A minimum of 12 qualified, committed dancers is required for the 2024-2025 Fierce Dance Team to form. If only 11 students register, the season will be canceled.
Dance Officers - 3 qualified, committed Dance Team officers are needed for Dance Officers to form. (Dance Officers are also members of the Dance Team, and will be a subset of the minimum of the 12 participants needed for the Dance Team to form.) If the Fierce Dance Team does not form, there will not be Dance Officers.

Lettering & Letter Jackets

Lettering in an extracurricular activity is reserved for the highest level of participation. For Dance Team, this means Dance Officers, who train and compete at the Varsity level.
