Stela Holcombe

Mrs. Holcombe believes in the IB Diploma Program because she sees first hand the impact that this education has in the lives of our alumni.

Mrs. Holcombe joined the Meridian community as a parent in the school's inaugural year, 2011-2012. She was an active member and one of the original leaders of Volunteers in Partnership (ViP) before becoming employed at Meridian as a teacher (ATL and College Readiness) in 2015. She served as the campus IB Diploma Program Coordinator starting in 2016, and then served as both the IB Diploma Program Coordinator and Assistant Principal from 2016-2022. She's now in her second year as Principal of IB Diploma Program (grades 11 and 12).

Mrs. Holcombe is proud to be a native Texan--born and raised near downtown Houston. She earned her B.A. in Sociology at Rice University, and after teaching high school for a few years (in Houston) she earned her principal certification and Masters in Education Administration, Planning, and Social Policy at Harvard University. Stela brings over 25 years of public school experience serving as a teacher, administrator, and parent support specialist in the Houston, Boston, and Austin areas. She loves her job at Meridian and considers Meridian to be her “forever school”. She loves developing and nurturing meaningful and fun traditions and activities at Meridian that help balance the rigor of the IB Diploma Program. On Fridays during advisory, she can be found on the playground with the juniors and seniors for "DP recess".

Stela's passion is providing caring, individualized support for junior and senior students and their parents/guardians. She believes that the Meridian high school faculty and staff are the finest educators she has ever worked with--inspiring her to be the servant leader that they deserve.

In her free time, Stela enjoys late night trips to Whataburger with her family, playing with her twin bunny rabbits (Josh and Josh), and running/biking/hiking her favorite trails in Central Texas.
