Matthew earned his B.A. degree in English from The University of Texas at Austin in 2014 and returned to UT in 2016 for his M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy. Immediately after graduating with his B.A., he began teaching high school ELA in Austin ISD. There, he enjoyed serving in the capacities of sophomore, junior, and senior ELA team lead at various times. Additionally, as the ELA department chair during the 2015-2016 school year, he implemented a number of department-wide, research-based strategies designed to improve reading and writing student achievement. Not limited to work inside the classroom, Matthew enjoys building relationships with students in organizations such as Young Life.
Matthew is beginning his first year at Meridian (and fifth year teaching), and he is excited to be a part of the Meridian community. When not engaging in school activities, he enjoys sampling Austin's finest pastries and spending time with his wife.
