Shachon Leaf

Educating young people and collaborating with a team of like-minded faculty and staff are Shachon Leaf’s passions. She began teaching elementary and middle school at Chicago Public Schools. After some time, she became the department chair of the middle school at Lovett Elementary School. In 2007, she and her family moved to the United Arab Emirates. She enjoyed teaching and serving on various academic committees at Abu Dhabi Community School and Theodore Monod Lycee Francais School. After several years abroad, Shachon and her husband, Ernest, decided to call Austin, Texas home. In 2014, she began teaching at Austin International School. While there, she assisted in establishing the English Language Arts curricula and protocols, ESL intervention system, and school culture. In 2020, she accepted a role as an ESL Interventionist at Pflugerville ISD to ensure that emergent English speakers from over 20 countries received educational services that would ensure their academic and social growth. All of her experiences led her to Meridian World School, where she proudly serves as the Assistant Principal for eighth-, ninth-, and tenth- grades. Her aim is to ensure that every student acquires a superb secondary educational experience. Go Lions! When she’s not working, Shachon enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and dog. In addition, sharing a meal with extended family and friends, reading a good book, and kayaking on Lake Travis is always a pleasure.
