Elizabeth Petty joined Meridian in August 2012 as a third grade teacher.   In January 2018 she moved to the position of Primary Assistant Principal.  Elizabeth was born and raised in Hong Kong before coming to Texas to complete her degree in elementary education with a specialization in music at Baylor University. She then returned to Hong Kong to teach first grade at an international school. Elizabeth returned to Texas to complete her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction at the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently completing her certification in educational administration.   She holds teaching certification for grades 1-8, elementary music, and ESL (English as a Second Language).   Prior to joining Meridian, Elizabeth taught 2nd and 3rd grades at NYOS Charter School. The IB program, with its focus on inquiry, integration, international-mindedness, and call to action, captures Elizabeth's educational and life philosophies. Elizabeth has attended Category 1 and advanced IB-PYP trainings and in June 2015 was the third Meridian staff member to be accepted into the IB Academy where she was trained as a workshop leader and site visitor for the IB organization.
