Shelly Hopson joined the Meridian family in 2015 and is currently beginning her fourth year of teaching sixth grade World Cultures. Shelly is originally from the Eastern United States and graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina with a degree in Psychology and Education and received certification there. Shelly is also ELL certified in the state of Texas. She has taught for several years with experience in a Gifted and Talented Magnet school in Raleigh, North Carolina to an IB-PYP school in Leander ISD. Her teaching experience is in upper elementary, with grades third, fourth, fifth, and sixth. Shelly has completed Categories 1, 2, advanced IB-PYP and MYP training. Shelly is passionate about making a positive contribution to a student’s motivation to want to learn and think critically. She encourages her students to strive to be lifelong learners of the educational world and understand universal concepts to develop into caring and responsible individuals who are open-minded to the differences in intercultural religions, beliefs, and core values to navigate the international world.
