This is Eileen Roybal's third year on the Meridian Staff, but this is her 7th year as part of the community — as a parent. Mrs. Roybal loves teaching 8th Grade US History! Mrs. Roybal is the Department Lead for Group 3: Individuals & Societies. She is also the editor of "The World," Meridian's K-12 yearbook.

She has taught for 10 years at Jarrell Middle School, Forbes Middle School & Cooper Elementary. In 2013, she was presented with the “Commended Teacher of the Humanities” Award from Humanities Texas.

Originally from South Dakota, Mrs. Roybal grew up in a loud house as the youngest of 8 children. She earned her B.S. and M.A. in Communication Studies from South Dakota State University. Before becoming a teacher, Mrs. Roybal served as a Director of Development at two universities in the Midwest. When she’s not teaching, Mrs. Roybal enjoys reading, knitting, cooking and doing yoga. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors for Grace Episcopal School Georgetown, and as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Preservation Georgetown. Eileen is an active volunteer and advocate for local and national historical preservation.

Mrs. Roybal is married to Desiderio, a professional theatre scene designer & professor at Southwestern University. Together they have 3 children. Olivia is a student at Trinity University. Joseph (Meridian '17) is a student at Southwestern University. And, Sofia is a Meridian Lion -- 12th Grader.
