Alicia Chaney joined the Meridian staff in August 2017 as a fourth grade teacher. Alicia received her bachelors degree from Aurora University in Illinois. Her journey then led her to Arizona, where she taught first and fifth grades for three years in the Phoenix area, working with curriculum and as a mentor teacher. Following an interest in international teaching, Alicia spent the next two years teaching fifth grade in Abu Dhabi, where she continued to be a mentor teacher and led professional development in curriculum. After returning to the U.S., she heard of a job at an IB-PYP school in Killeen and was teaching 4th grade there when she became acquainted with Meridian through the Central Texas IBPYP Roundtable. Wanting to do the PYP with fidelity and to move away from a focus on testing, she was anxious to be a part of our school community. She feels it is important to develop responsible and globally aware citizens and wants to increase her understanding of the PYP framework in a student-centered environment.
She has completed Category 1 IB-PYP training.
