and Middle School Red won the 2017 State Championship!

About Meridian Volleyball

Our 2019 Volleyball program consists of five teams, likely Varsity, JV, Middle School Red, Middle School Gray and Middle School Black. (The final team configurations will be based on registration and tryouts.Based on registration, we anticipate offering a third Middle School team - Middle School Black.)

The season consists of four non-league games and eight league games (10 for Varsity) and tournaments. The post-season is offered through our league - Texas Charter Academy and Athletic League (TCSAAL).

JV and MS Black are in divisions that can advance in the post-season as far as Regionals. Varsity, MS Red and MS Gray are in divisions that can advance as far as State, although only MS Red or MS Gray can advance past sub-regionals as they are in the same division.

Parents are needed to serve at games in many roles: scoring, concessions, line judge, home game admissions sales, etc. Participation on the volleyball team includes an expectation that parents will commit to serving in these roles throughout the season.

Meridian anticipates offering five competitive volleyball teams.

The participation fee depends on the team level.  Participation fees must be paid the day of tryouts to secure your spot on the team. Meridian School wants all students to have the opportunity to participate. Financial assistance and/or payment plans are available for those who need it. Please contact financialaid@mwschool.org to request a payment plan or a sport's participation fee reduction.

About Volleyball Competitions
Meridian's regular volleyball season consists of league (TCSAAL) games, non-league games and tournaments. Due to resource capacity, there will be a limit of non-league games and tournaments in which each team participates.

JV teams and Middle School teams - The maximum number of non-league games and tournaments for Junior Varsity and Middle School teams are as follows:
  • Up to two home non-league games
  • Up to two away non-league games
  • Up to one tournament (plus Labor Day Classic hosted by Meridian)

Varsity teams - The maximum number of non-league games and tournaments for Varsity teams are as follows:
  • Up to three home non-league games
  • Up to three away non-league games
  • Up to two tournaments (plus Labor Day Classic hosted by Meridian)

Non-league schedules are typically available and posted well before the league schedule. Ultimately, the Game Schedule will show all competitions for all volleyball teams. Non-league games are marked with an asterisk in the Game Schedule. A team's advancement to the league's post-season depends on its performance during league games. Not all teams are guaranteed to advance to the post-season. Junior Varsity teams do not advance beyond Regionals. (Middle School Red or Middle School Gray and Varsity may earn the privilege to advance as far as State.) A team's practices end when their competition season ends.
