Volunteer and experience a Model UN conference

Did you know that the largest club at Meridian is the Model UN club? We have 170 members!

Model UN is an educational simulation during which student participants debate relevant topics related to international relations and diplomacy, following the protocol of the United Nations. Every February, Meridian MUN partners with Southwestern University to put on the Student International Conference Model United Nations (SICMUN). Learn more about the conference.

This year it will be held:

  • Saturday, February 10 (high school and college students)
  • Sunday, February 11 (middle school students)

We invite Meridian students in 4th to 12th grade to participate in SICMUN by being a page in the debate rooms. This involves transferring written messages from delegate to delegate within the room. This experience allows your student to experience MUN debates in an easy, low-stakes manner.

Parents/Guardians are also invited to volunteer by monitoring halls while students are debating in classrooms. Take the opportunity to pop in and observe the debates; it’s a fabulous experience. If you and/or your child is interested in volunteering (two hour shifts) please sign-up.
