Experience the Meridian Black Culture Choir

The Meridian Black Culture Choir would like to invite the whole community to participate in the choir and support them. They consist of Choir Director Sal Stow, students from 1st to 12th grade, staff, family members, and friends. Rehearsals are on Thursdays after school for those who can attend. However, many of our participants practice at home and then show up to the performances that work with their schedule.

They sing the Black National Anthem, 'Lift Every Voice and Sing' and other songs as requested; 'It's Time' by the Winans', 'Spirit' by Beyoncé, and 'We Shall Overcome' an anthem of the civil rights movement.

This school year the choir has performed at the Round Rock Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Fair, Hutto Kwanzaa Celebration, Meridian Triple A Annual MLK Celebration and March, and the Austin Public Library Celebration Honoring MLK. Take a look at their Austin Public Library concert.

Would you like to hear the choir perform? Come to one of their upcoming performances:

  • February 3: Meridian Festival of Cultures opening performance at 1 p.m. sharp!
  • February 18: Sweet Home Church Heritage Celebration at 11 a.m.
