Meet the Meridian School 2016-2017 After School Enrichment Program Team!

Mrs. Swain  Director of Student Enrichment Services

Monique Swain joined Meridian in August 2011 as the Triple A Enrichment Program Director. Mrs. Swain has a bachelor's degree in Family and Child Sciences from the Florida State University and a master's in Family and Child Studies from Texas State University. She comes to Meridian from the Austin Independent School District where she worked as the Teen Parent Program Coordinator. She is a State of Texas licensed child care director with many years of experience working with children and their families as a preschool teacher, school-age program assistant director, child development specialist, licensed child care director, event coordinator, director trainer, and preschool/school-age area director. She was drawn to Meridian because she enjoys building enriching children’s programs from the ground up. Specifically, the Triple A Program gives her the opportunity to share her personal hobbies and encourage students to express what sparks their interest.

 

 

Mrs. Elliott - Triple A Manager

Eunice Elliott joined Meridian in July 2016 as the Triple A After School Enrichment Program Manager. Mrs. Elliott has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Her professional skill set has developed through her roles of community project manager, neighborhood events coordinator and community liaison with the Round Rock Police Department. Eunice has many years of experience as a preschool instructor and also as a youth program leader. She is no stranger to Meridian as she has been a very active and dedicated parent since 2011. She has put in countless hours volunteering, with her first experience being with Triple A in August 2011. Since September 2011 she has been opening morning car doors with enthusiasm and a smile. By interacting with staff members, parents and many students on a daily basis, her passion for the vision and direction of Meridian has grown tremendously. In her spare time she enjoys vacationing with her family, cooking, baking, reading, listening to music and playing piano.

 

 

Mrs. Soni  – Enrichment Coordinator

Geetanjali Soni joined Meridian in fall 2011 as the enrichment leader for first grade. She continued on in successive years as the second and third grade leader. After working as the Senior Enrichment Leader, Mrs. Soni was promoted to Enrichment Coordinator. As the enrichment coordinator, she planned and supervised enriching activities and events for the entire program. In 2016 she was promoted to the assistant manager as well as overseeing enrichment curriculum. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University, India, Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas State University, and a Texas Teacher’s Certification for early childhood through fourth grade and ESL. She has over 20 years of teaching experience. She has worked as a tutor, mentor, aerobics instructor, and cosmetologist consultant. She currently teaches yoga, beginner chess, creative art classes, and substitutes in Round Rock ISD. Mrs. Soni is co-manager and appraiser of a Destination Imagination team. She enjoys cooking, crafts, shopping, photography, and family time. "Meridian’s after school program helps me to explore my own interests, hobbies, and ideas. I love the after school environment and encouraging staff that I work with."

 

Ms. Soto  – Triple A Registrar and Receptionist

Jackie Soto joined Meridian in fall 2014 as the Triple A Enrichment Program Receptionist and became the Triple A Enrichment Program Registrar in the spring of 2015. She attended Austin Everest Institute and graduated as a Medical Assistant in 2012. As a student at Everest Institute, she received hands-on training with patient care and communication; she is also well-trained in both administrative and clinical procedures. Some of Ms. Soto’s interests include reading, learning new things, exercising, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with family. “In an orchestra, a diverse collection of instruments, each with its own unique sound, work together to produce a beautiful symphony. I’m excited to be a part of this team because we are all so unique each ‘with our own sound’ and it’s amazing to be part of such a diverse and collaborative environment.”

 

Ms. Williams – Support Staff

Alliyah Williams joined Meridian in Fall 2016 as the group leader for 1B. She has volunteered in assisting teaching young students throughout her high school career. She enjoys singing, writing poetry and painting. She values working with children by helping them to explore their passions and develop a love for learning.

 

Mr. Davis – Group K1 Leader

Donovan Davis joined Meridian in August 2016 as the enrichment leader for kindergarten. He currently attends Austin Community College to pursue a degree in kinesiology and plans to transfer to Texas State University to continue his path in becoming a physical therapist. He enjoys entertaining kids and people of all ages in hope to inspire and make an impact on their lives.

 

Ms. Velez – Group K2 Leader

 

Ms. Gema  – Group 1A Leader

Alanis Gema joined Meridian in fall 2015 as the group leader for 1A. She currently attends Austin Community College and plans to transfer to Texas State or the University of Texas at San Antonio to study Pre-Med. Her family has supported Meridian since its inception. She enjoys working with students and traveling as a student ambassador.

Jalyssa Russell joined Meridian in spring 2015 as the assistant group leader for 4th grade and is currently the leader for 2A. She has over 10 years of experience tutoring and volunteering in various children's homes. Ms. Russell enjoys reading, writing, television, and movies. She aspires to be a screenwriter. "I enjoy encouraging children to discover and pursue their interests and who they are as people. Triple A provides a great opportunity for kids and staff alike to be creative and have fun."
