Viktoria Hernandez-Velez

Viktoria Hernandez-Velez joined Meridian in August of 2022 as the MYP Visual Arts I instructor.

Viktoria attended Meridian as a full IB diploma candidate and graduated with her IB diploma as part of the class of 2018. She then continued onto higher education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Art and Spanish. During university, she competed in soccer, dance and powerlifting. Throughout undergrad she was part of the Filipino Student Association (FSA) at UTSA and was elected to serve under the Southern Intercollegiate Filipino Alliance (SIFA) as an officer and ambassador. For four years she was an officer in UTSA FSA and SIFA where she helped orchestrate volunteering events centered around community outreach, cultural education, and advocating for First Generation students in higher education throughout the states of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Her passion for education began in FSA and SIFA and continued to grow when she worked as a caretaker at a non english speaking child care facility. Now she takes that same passion into her MYP Art and Spanish classrooms where her students know her as Ms. “V” and Maestra “V”

In her spare time, Ms. V continues to powerlift, play soccer and enjoys traveling to different national parks and new cities.
