Fever Policy

The Meridian policy states that students be kept home if they have experienced abnormal temperature (100º F or above) or vomiting/diarrhea within the previous 24-hour period. They must be symptom/fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication.

If your student has a fever, or has had a vomiting/diarrhea episode and they have a test or project that day, please do not give them medication then send them to school and plan on picking them up after the test. Your student is not only contagious to the teacher and other students, and will likely do poorly on their work, but they are at risk for contracting a back to back illness due to their immune system being overloaded. Arrangements will be made for all makeup projects and tests.

It is critical that we all work together in the hopes that we can stay as well as possible. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the corresponding nurse clinic.

PE exclusion for illness or injury

If a student is ill or injured, a parent must provide a note for the nurse to excuse their student from participation in physical education. After three consecutive days, a doctor’s note is required with a date noted for return to participation. Please contact the corresponding nurse clinic for any questions.
