Resource Guide: Welcome Back to School

Back to School Nights

Meet your teachers, get your car tags, shop for spirit wear and learn about resources to encourage a successful start to the school year!

Primary 

Primary 1, 3, 5: Wednesday, July 30 from 4-6 p.m. 

Primary K, 2, 4: Thursday, July 31 from 4-6 p.m.

Classrooms close at 6 p.m.; we recommend beginning in the classroom and then enjoying the additional activities. 

Teacher assignments will be posted in Skyward on the day of your student’s assigned Back to School Night. Click on the Schedule tile; your child's teacher is listed next to “Homeroom." 

Secondary 

Middle School 6-8: Monday, August 4 from 4-6 p.m.

High School 9-12: Monday, August 4 from 5-7 p.m.

Grades 9-12 can drop off tissues and copy paper (from your supply list) on Back to School Night.

Schedules cannot be released if immunizations are not cleared with the nurse. As a Texas State requirement, students must receive vaccinations for Tdap and Meningococcal before beginning 7th grade.

Cafeteria Updates:

Updated Meal Pricing; Free and Reduced Meals Application

 To help offset an increase in costs from our suppliers (due in part to supply chain increases and tariffs), we have had to raise our cafeteria prices on certain items. Student lunch meals are $5.00 (secondary grades Grab-n-Go $4.75). Reduced price breakfasts are $0.30 and reduced price lunches are $0.40. See full menu pricing.

 Additionally, starting Aug. 1, My School Bucks will charge a flat program fee for cafe payments of $3.50 for debit/credit card and $2.75 for e-check; at the same time, My School Bucks will also raise the payment limit per transaction from $120 to $150. 

 Please begin helping your student memorize their lunch pin number. This is the same as their student ID, which can be found in Skyward and on back-to-school packets/schedules.

Applications for the Free and Reduced Meals program are open and will remain available all year. You can check income eligibility at-a-glance.

This application is also available online through MySchoolBucks and takes just 15-30 minutes to complete.

Uniform Exchange

Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. - noon

Shop at the Uniform Exchange for gently worn uniform pieces, including spirit wear and College shirts! Each piece is just a $2 donation to ViP Teacher Grants. 

If you volunteered 20 hours or more last school year, you can shop early at 9:30 (your name will be on a list for early access). 

The uniform exchange is in the primary building: MPR. Cash/Credit Card accepted. 

Uniform updates 

Please review these important uniform guidelines before purchasing uniforms, including guidance on shorts and skirts and a uniform policy update on accessories and hats. 

Secondary students (6-12) only: Each Monday, students in grades 6-12 wear a polo with an embroidered Meridian logo. You can purchase these at RockSports, Lands End, or French Toast, or bring polos to RockSports or GTX to be embroidered. Logos are not required Tues-Fri.

Spirit Wear Sale 

Stop by RockSport starting Monday, July 21 and pick up discontinued spirit wear T-shirts and Sweatshirts for $5 each! Look for brand new designs at our Back to School Nights. It's your last chance to grab favorite designs from previous years! Spirit wear shirts may be worn on Fridays. Sweatshirts may be worn daily over the polo shirt.

School Supplies and Delivery Help Needed

Still need supplies? See details for all grades on the School Supplies page. 

Volunteer opportunity! Our administration for Grades K-8 needs your help distributing supply kits to classrooms. Students are welcome to join and assist with adults. Sign up for PYP delivery July 21 and 22 and/or MYP delivery July 22.

Help Volunteers in Partnership (ViP) welcome back Meridian staff and teachers with their famous “Back to School Breakfast.” Donate to or volunteer at the Breakfast!

Medications and Vaccinations

If your student will need any medications on campus, please have their provider fill out & sign the medication consent form dated July 1 or later.

If your student has any new immunizations or you are new to Meridian and have not submitted records during registration, please send records to the nurse.

July 24: Last day to sign up for Triple A After School Care

July 28: Primary Cub Camp (new PYP families) 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

July 30: Late registration opens for 7th-8th grade After School Band and After School Orchestra (closes at 9 p.m. August 7)

Aug 1: MYP (Grades 6-10) New Family Orientation 6 - 7 p.m. (Details coming soon)

August 6: First day of school, Half Day Wednesday!

August 22: ViP Bingo Night
