Interested in study abroad opportunities for high school students in countries like Japan, Italy, France, Spain, Costa Rica, and more? The Council On International Educational Exchange (CIEE), a non-profit organization dedicated to global education for over 75 years, offers programs for high school students and graduating seniors. Their Summer Abroad programs are 3-4 weeks with a cost range from $4,500-$8,500.
Learn more at a virtual informational meeting for parents/guardians on Thursday, November 6 from 6:30-7:15 p.m.
There are two types of CIEE programs: Language and Culture and Topic/Thematic Experiences
- Language and Culture programs are four weeks long and all have a home stay experience. They focus on language and cultural immersion
- Topic programs are three weeks long and have a variety of housing option including host families, hotel, hostel, or dorm housing. If students are not in host families, they stay with program leaders for adult supervision. They are focused on project based learning and fall under one of these 4 categories: STEM, business, the arts, or social change. The topics are tailored to the location. For example entrepreneurship in Singapore and Berlin will have differences based on location.
Meridian students that have participated in these programs in the past have shared favorable reviews about their experiences, and they align with the IB mission of international mindedness so we are sharing this information in case you are interested.
