Fernando Hernandez
Fernando Hernandez joined Meridian World School in July of 2025. He is the mathematics analysis and approaches teacher for the Diploma Programme. Mr. Hernandez received his bachelor of arts degree in mathematics from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, and his master of education degree in educational leadership from University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.
Prior to Meridian World School, Mr. Hernandez taught mathematics for 15 years in Killeen Independent School District in Killeen, Texas. This included IB, AP, dual credit, and STEM courses. During this time, he also served as campus instructional specialist, department head of mathematics for different campuses, and, in 2016, was awarded Secondary Teacher of the Year for the district.
Mr. Hernandez is originally from the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and one of 12 children. Before settling in Lake Belton, Texas, he resided in Washington, D.C. (with frequent visits to New York City), Dallas/Fort Worth, and Austin. In his spare time, Mr. Hernandez likes to watch sports (especially NFL, tennis, and soccer), cook (and eat), listen to music, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy his “me” time. He is beyond excited and honored to be teaching at Meridian World School! Go Lions!
