Melissa Reese
Melissa Reese serves as the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Principal at Meridian School, leading grades 6–10. She joined Meridian in 2018 as Assistant Principal and later Principal of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) campus, bringing a deep commitment to the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy across the continuum.
A proud Central Texas native, Ms. Reese earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Tarleton State University in 2006. She spent the first eight years of her career teaching third and fourth grade at an IB PYP campus in Killeen, where she developed a passion for inquiry-based learning. In 2014, she completed her Master’s in Educational Leadership at the University of Texas at Arlington, which opened new doors in school leadership and IB coordination.
While pursuing her graduate studies, Melissa became the IB PYP Coordinator at an elementary school in Waco, Texas. In this role, she led the school through a successful IB evaluation and served as the Professional Development School (PDS) Site Coordinator in partnership with Baylor University. Her leadership helped strengthen the pipeline between Baylor’s School of Education and the IB campus, enhancing teacher preparation and collaboration.
In 2017, Melissa transitioned to Assistant Principal at that same school. Motivated to return to the Round Rock area and contribute to the Meridian community, she joined the Meridian leadership team the following year. Since then, she has held various leadership roles, including Primary Principal and now MYP Principal. Melissa is energized by the opportunity to support learners across the IB continuum—from PYP through Diploma Programme (DP)—and believes deeply in IB’s mission to develop caring, globally minded citizens.
Melissa has completed multiple IB professional development workshops, including Category 1, 2, and 3 PYP trainings, and continues to grow her expertise as a lifelong learner. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Texas Woman’s University, with an anticipated graduation in Spring 2026.
Outside of school, Melissa treasures time with her family. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Chris, and is the proud mother of three daughters—Lindsey (living in Alaska with her husband and two sons), Ashley (in Central Texas with her husband), and Lillian (also in Central Texas with her husband and two daughters). She finds joy in her faith, her family, her beloved pets, and above all, her grandchildren.
