FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Brooke Knight, PYP Principal

Happy Wednesday, Primary Families!

We had such a wonderful time welcoming our second grade families to campus for the showcase. We are so proud of our students’ hard work. They truly shined as they shared their learning, and it was such a joy to see their confidence and excitement. Thank you for joining us to celebrate their efforts. We look forward to seeing our fourth grade families this Friday and our first grade and kindergarten families early next week for their showcases.

A quick reminder for our fourth grade families: students will visit Pioneer Farms on Tuesday, November 18. If you have not yet completed your child’s permission form, please take care of that as soon as possible. Your student will not want to miss this experience. You can find the forms and trip details in the 4th Grade Newsletter on Toddle.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for last week’s Principal Coffee. It was such a treat to hear from our first and third grade teachers about our phonics program and even get a little hands-on practice ourselves, just like our students do each week. A huge thank you to Ms. Trusler, Ms. Flores, and Ms. Hess for leading that learning and sharing their time and expertise with our families. If you weren’t able to make it, you can access the slides and the handouts.

Finally, I want to send a big thank you to our amazing parent volunteers. Whether you have helped in the cafeteria, hung art in the hallways for Ms. Lee, monitored students during hearing and vision screenings, or assisted in carline, your support makes such a difference. We could not do it without you, and we are so grateful for your partnership. We always welcome extra hands, especially in carline, so please feel free to join us anytime you are available.

Thank you for all you do to support our students and community. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Season of Gratitude

Fall leaves "I'm Thankful for You"As we enter this season of gratitude, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect on those who make a difference in our children’s lives every day, our incredible teachers and staff. Their dedication, care, and hard work create the nurturing environment where our students truly thrive. We invite you to take a moment to share a few words of appreciation for a teacher or staff member who has made an impact on your child or family.

Simply fill out this form to recognize their commitment and support. Your kind words mean so much and help spread joy and gratitude throughout our school community.

Thank you for joining us in celebrating the amazing work of our team this season!

Academics

IB Initiative: The Concept of Causation

Each week on the primary announcements and in the PYP Pride Newsletter, we share information about an element of the IB or specifically the Primary Years Programme.

This week we are learning about the concept of Causation. This concept focuses on why something is the way it is. I’m sure you’ve experienced your child asking you why about just about everything. We ask why because we have an innate desire to understand more fully and that’s the first thing we usually wonder. Check out this great article explaining this and giving suggestions on how to respond.

This week, on the announcements, we are looking at other big ideas that are part of studying causation. We will explore cause and effect, actions and consequences, sequence, and patterns.

Friday, students in HOSA – Future Health Professionals enjoyed a hands-on field trip to Texas State University in Round Rock. Students got to network with health professionals from a wide range of careers and meet representatives from universities like UT Medical School.

They sat in panelist sessions with health professionals and engaged in asking questions, and then visited the Texas State Nursing lab simulation center and got to view the medical equipment while learning from nurses.
