Meridian School Uniform Guide

At Meridian School, we believe uniforms foster a sense of community and allow students to focus on academics. Thank you for making sure your student's attire meets the requirements outlined below.

General Information

Where can I purchase uniforms?

  • Meridian School receives a percentage of items purchased through Lands' End. Search for Meridian School in their uniform section and it will show approved items.
  • RockSports, our local spirit wear partner, sells embroidered polo shirts. Most large retailers sell uniforms, including Target, Old Navy, Gap, and Walmart. 

 

What is the Uniform Exchange?

  • Volunteers in Partnership, our parent/guardian organization, collects clean, gently used uniform pieces, college shirts, jackets, and coats to sell 1-2 times per year. Pieces are $2 each! 
  • Bring washed, stain-free items to the primary school entrance and place in the Uniform Exchange bin.

 

Where can I purchase Spirit Wear?

  • RockSports sells Meridian spirit wear year-round. Visit our Spirit Wear Store to see styles.
  • Throughout the year, clubs, organizations, classes, and athletics sell spirit wear through MySchoolBucks. These items can be worn on Fridays.

 

Where can I embroider my secondary (6-12) uniform top with the Meridian logo?

  • RockSports sells pre-embroidered shirts
  • Lands’ End offers the service when ordered online. 
  • Locally,  RockSports and GTX Awards embroider items brought to their stores. 

 

What happens if my student is out of uniform?

 Red, grey, and black pullovers and sweaters

Pullovers and Jackets (K-12)

  • Students may wear approved pullovers (non-hooded) and zip jackets in the classroom over the uniform polo or dress shirt. 
  • The uniform collar must be worn over the neckline.
  • Please label with your child’s name! Lost and Found fills up daily.

Approved Pullovers

  • Sold as all-school non-hooded spirit wear from RockSports
  • Plain, solid color red, gray, or black 

Not approved: non spirit wear hoods, non-Meridian logos, two-tones, writing, stripes, etc.

Approved Jackets

  • Letter jackets
  • Red jackets* and gray fleece sold through RockSports
  • Plain, solid color red, gray or black full zippered jackets with or without hoods*

Not approved: non-Meridian logos, two-tone, writing, stripes, etc.

Note: winter coats and jackets not meeting these standards may be worn to/from school and during recess only. 

*Hoods must be down indoors.

Uniform tops, bottoms, shoes, and hair ties

Grades K-5

Tops

  • Solid red or gray polo shirt or dress
  • Khaki jumper with button down white dress shirt underneath
  • Long sleeved plain white, gray, red, or black shirt may be worn underneath polo
  • Fridays: Meridian Spirit Wear allowed
  • Last Wednesday of each month: College Logo Shirts allowed

Not approved: Polos with visible brand logos, writing, stripes, etc. 

Bottoms

  • Uniform-style pants, skorts, skirts, and shorts
    • Tan or black khakis
    • Blue or black denim 
    • Shorts should have minimum 6" inseam and skirts should be 14" long
  • Tights and leggings in tan/black are allowed if worn under dresses, shorts, or skirts

Not approved: corduroy, yoga pants, sweats/fleece, ruffled skirts, acid wash, distressed, decorated, embroidered, or cut-offs

Shoes

  • Must be close-toed with a secured, closed back
  • Neutral color preferred
  • Boots should be below the knee in length and worn under pants (UGG-style boots can be worn over pants)
  • Shoes should not be distracting or inappropriate for a school environment

Not approved: croc-style, sandals, slides, flip-flops, backless slip-ons, high heels/stilettos, platform shoes, light-up, glitter, sequins, charms, wheeled shoes, or house shoes

Socks and Hair Accessories

  • Uniform colors or neutral (red, gray, white, navy, brown, tan, black)
  • On Fridays, socks of any color are allowed
  • Not approved: hats or head coverings inside the building (unless for religious purposes)

Backpacks, Lunch Kits, Water Bottles

  • Backpacks cannot have commercialized media characters (like cartoons or movies); sports or college logos are okay
  • There are no restrictions on lunch kits or water bottles
  • Please label all items with child’s full name

Grades 6-12

Tops

  • Grades 6-12: Solid red polo shirt (embroidered Meridian logo required on Mondays only)
  • Grades 9-12: Solid black polo shirt with embroidered Meridian Logo
  • Grades 11-12: Gray Oxford shirt with embroidered Meridian Logo (order through Lands’ End)
  • Long sleeved plain white, gray, red, or black shirt may be worn underneath polo
  • Fridays: Meridian Spirit Wear allowed
  • Last Wednesday of each month: College logo shirts allowed

Vendor and Embroidery Options


RockSports carries a year-round supply of embroidered red (grades 6-12) and black (grades 9-12) performance polos, as well as spirit wear. You can go in person to the store between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, no pre-order necessary. They're at 1609 Chisolm Trail. RockSports gives a percentage of sales back to Meridian!
 
Online, Lands' End offers approved items and give a percentage of sales back to Meridian! Use our school code when shopping so that we receive credit:

Note that grades K-5 do not require polos with embroidered logos, although those sizes are also available embroidered at RockSports for those interested. For grades 6-12, polos with embroidered logos are required on Mondays.
