Tryouts

Dance Team candidates must:

1. Register for 2024-2025 Dance Team.
2. Be physically eligible (have a valid physical form on file. Learn more).
3. Be financially eligible (not have any past due invoices with the school).
4. Attend all three Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practices.
5. Attend Tryouts.

Skills required are:

• Right and Left both side and front Grand Battements
• R and L Fan Kicks Inside and Outside
• R and L Pirouettes (Singles and Doubles)
• R and L Chaine Turns
• R and L Pique Turns
• R and L Grand Jete
• R and L Splits

Tryouts for Officers:

Officers will try out on May 4th after team tryouts. For officer tryouts, each candidate will need:

• A prepared 1 minute solo and provide accompanying music
• Complete a questionnaire
• Interview with the 2 panel judges

Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practices

Tu, 4/30, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Learn compulsory routine.

Th., 5/2, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Practice compulsory routine.

F., 5/3, 4:20 - 5:50 p.m. - Mandatory Pre-Tryout Practice - Practice compulsory routine.

Tryout Schedule

Saturday, 5/4 

8:45 a.m. - Dancers check-in at the Mays Lobby

9:00 -11:00 a.m. - Dance Team Tryouts by small group

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - Dance Officers Tryouts (solos/interviews)

Tryout Attire

Any form fitting dance attire, preferably black. If wearing bike shorts, tights must be worn. Jazz shoes are preferred but if not acquired before tryouts, comfortable tennis shoes will do as long as it allows for proper dance movement and turns.
