2023-2024 Academic Calendar
The new Academic Calendar for 2023-2024 school year has been approved by the Board.
Please note the following highlights:
- new school start and dismissal times,
- new spring break dates, and
- three additional student holidays/staff work days
The additional work days were added to better support our teachers and allow them planning time at key points throughout the year without reducing their professional development time. To make up for this time, the instructional day for the 2023-2024 school year has been extended by 10 minutes (five minutes on Wednesdays). As in the past, the calendar days allow for two bad weather make-up days without canceling any holidays.
The proposed calendar was shared in November 2022. In a typical year, Meridian shares the finalized calendar in the fall, but we were waiting to hear RRISD's final decision on moving Spring Break back by one week to align with UT's calendar.
