While there were several reasons noted for choosing A or B, the most compelling reason for choosing Option A was that hundreds of primary students participate in morning tutorials. The earlier start time would be a burden on parents/students and teachers. The most compelling reason for choosing Option B was that ending school at 4:15 PM for secondary students would prevent or make it very difficult for many students to participate in out-of-school extracurricular activities.
Decision
The K - 5 MTTF schedule will be 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. (Since there is no change to the start time, morning tutorials for the hundreds of primary students may continue as usual.)
The 6 - 12 MTTF schedule will be 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM. (Secondary students currently are attending school 15 minutes longer than primary students. Only 15 minutes will need to be added to the end of the day. This will help those students with out-of-school, extracurricular activities.)
