Local Scholarships for students in Williamson County, Round Rock, Austin, and surrounding areas:

  • Southwestern University          
    • $2,000 renewable scholarship (total $8,000) for attending an official campus visit. 
  • St. David's Neal Kocurek Scholarship
    • January (applications open in November)
    • up to $7,500 per year, up to four years in a Texas college
    • For students pursuing health professions, including Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, Radiation, Oncology, Nursing, Optometry, Clinical Lab Technology
    • Applicant must graduate in Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop or Caldwell county
    • Financial need may be considered
  • St. David’s Medical Center Healthcare Volunteers Scholarships
    • February
    • $3,000 per semester for two semesters
    • student must be accepted into a degreed healthcare program such as nursing, medicine, or physical therapy
    • volunteer service at St. David’s is not required, although volunteers are awarded additional consideration
  • A+ Federal Credit Union Scholarship
    • February
    • $1,000:
    • 4 to high school seniors pursuing an Education major
    • 2 to high school seniors pursuing major in other fields
    • Eligible applicants must be a current A+FCU member or immediate family is an A+FCU member. Student must attend a college or university in Texas
  • United Heritage Credit Union Community Scholarship
    • February
    • $5,000 (2 to be awarded)
    • Applicants must be United Heritage Credit Union members or related to a United Heritage member
    • Preference will be given to students with extraordinary community and civic service.
    • Criteria include community service, character and leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, scholastic achievement, essay response, and letters of recommendation.

  • Round Rock Pi Omega Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarship
    • February
    • $250-$1,000
    • for African American females
    • minimum gpa 2.5

  • Heart of Texas Counseling Association Scholarship
    • March
    • For students planning a career in an education or mental health-related field
    • Student’s counselor or parent must be a member of the HTCA

  • Capital City A&M Club Scholarship
    • March
    • $4,000 (10 scholarships awarded to Austin area students - $1,000 each semester for 4 semesters at Texas A&M)
    • Selection based on high school grades and SAT/ACT scores (30%), financial need (30%), extracurricular activities, community involvement, work experience (20%), and essays and letters of recommendation (20%)
    • Student must have already applied for admission to A&M.
  • Professional Women of Williamson County (PWOW)
    • March
    • $1,000
    • Criteria include community/school involvement and essay; not a need-based scholarship

  • Chaparral Women’s Club Spirit of Chaparral Scholarship
    • March
    • $2,500 (2 awarded)
    • for young women based on leadership in philanthropic or religious charities
  • Round Rock Area Aggie Moms’ Club Scholarship
    • March
    • Amount varies
    • Must be attending A&M next fall
    • Criteria include employment, extracurricular activities, leadership, community activities, academic record

    • Applications must be mailed and received by their posted deadline (typically April 1)
  • Williamson County A&M Club Foundation Scholarship
    • April
    • $5,000 (5 to be awarded)
    • Student must be a Williamson County resident and planning to attend A&M (College Station or Galveston)
    • Criteria include academic achievement, need, extracurricular activities, community involvement, job history, and statements regarding expected academic major and reasons for wanting to attend TAMU
  • Williamson County A&M Club Embree Group Scholarship
    • April
    • $1,000
    • Student must be a Williamson County resident and planning to attend A&M (College Station or Galveston)
    • For students majoring in Construction Science

  • Greater Austin Contractors and Engineers Association (ACEA)
    • April
    • Amount varies
    • Residents of Williamson County and 5 other counties are eligible
    • Application includes career goals, scholastic achievement, community involvement, and financial information
  • ACC Foundation Scholarships
    • April
    • The ACC Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for ACC students based on financial need family status, educational background, high school, or academic major.
  • ACC Culinary Arts & Baking and Pastry Scholarship
    • April
    • Applicant must have a 3.0 gpa or higher
  • Hugg Trust Scholarship
    • May 1
    • Minimum $500 (renewable for up to 4 years of college; may be used at any university - not restricted to Texas schools)
    • student must rank in the top 10% at Meridian
    • student must live and attend school in Williamson County for at least 2 years prior to graduation
    • need considered, and student must submit FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)
    • All forms (application, FAFSA SAI, 7-semester transcript & rec letter) must be received by May 1.  

IB Scholarships: (many other colleges may have automatic IB scholarships. Check the scholarship page for individual colleges of interest)

  • Rochester Institute of Technology
    • $24,000 per year ($12,000 per semester). Renewable (up to $96,000 over 4 years)
    • Available to all IB diploma earners - no separate application needed. Applicants must: indicate in their admission application they are pursuing the IB Diploma, be admitted, and enroll at RIT full-time for the fall of 2026 (immediately following high school graduation).
    • This scholarship is not stackable. It cannot be combined with other RIT merit-based scholarships.
 
  • University of Tulsa
    • IB Merit Scholarship of $3,000 per year for students who complete the full IB diploma with a gpa of at least 3.0.  This is awarded with full-time enrollment for eight semesters

    • Various deadlines
    • $2,500-$20,000
    • For students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.
  • Cameron Impact Scholarship
    • Apply in May of Jr year or September of Sr year
    • 4-year, full tuition scholarship
    • 15 awarded each year
    • Eligibity based on gpa 3.7+, excel in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service; US citizenship
  • Gates Scholarship (formerly Gates Millennium Scholars) 
    • September
    • Renewable, need-based, merit scholarships, plus mentorship, peer connections and other resources in college
    • Eligible college majors include computer science, education, engineering, library science, math, public health, or science.
    • Eligible students must be a U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident, and either African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
    • Minimum 3.3 GPA on unweighted 4.0 scale
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities
    • Demonstrated need based on FAFSA (meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility)
  • QuestBridge Scholarships
    • September
    • National College Match program helps outstanding low-income students gain admission and full four-year scholarships to leading colleges. The 30 partner colleges include Yale, Stanford, Amherst, Emory, and MIT.
    • Students must come from households earning less than $65,000 annually for a typical family of four
    • Academic criteria include rank in top 10% of class, SAT 1310 or ACT 28, plus evidence of strong writing ability, intellectual spark and determination
  • Wendy’s High School Heisman
    • October
    • $1,000 for State winners; $5,000 for National Finalists; $10,000 awarded to one male and one female National winner
  • Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation
    • October
    • $20,000 – 150 scholarships awarded
    • Coca-Cola will award $3 million to highly motivated, dedicated, involved seniors.
  • VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Scholarship
    • October
    • Local, district, state, and national winners
    • For students in grades 9-12
    • Students must record an original 3-5 minute essay on the theme: “Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military?”
  • Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
    • November
    • $1,000 plus a trip to Washington, D.C.
    • To honor students who have given generously of their time and talents as a volunteer
    • Local Honoree will be selected from the applicants submitted by Meridian students by November 1
    • Local Honorees will compete for the $1,000 and trip to D.C., where the top 10 National Honorees will receive an additional $5,000
  • Soroptimist International – Ava Crofford Youth Citizenship Award (AYCA) and the Violet Richardson Award (VRA)
    • December
    • Amount varies
    • This award recognizes young people for outstanding contributions to home, school, community, country and world; it is NOT awarded for scholastic achievement, but for the commitment to improving the quality of life for others.
    • Two adult reference forms required, and completed applications must be received by Dec. 1
  • AXA Achievement Scholarship in association with U.S. News & World Report
    • December
    • $10,000 to one winner in each state
    • Criteria include ambition, determination, respect for self, family and community, and ability to succeed in college
  • NFIB Young Entrepreneur Awards
    • December
    • $1,000-$10,000
    • For students who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through experiences such as: starting or running a business, participating in DECA, or other initiatives.
  • TIBS DP Scholarship

    • $1,000
    • for IB Senior Diploma Candidates
    • Applicants evaluated on scholarship, leadership, service, and financial need
  • Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship
    • January
    • Up to $100,000 will be awarded in Texas
    • Student must attend an ABET-accredited university (Baylor, Lamar LeTourneau, Midwestern State, Prairie View, Rice, St. Mary’s, SMU, Tarleton, A&M College Station, Commerce, Galveston or Kingsville, TCU, Texas Tech, Trinity, UH, UH Clear Lake, UNT, UT Arlington, Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Pan Am, San Antonio, Tyler, and West Texas A&M)
  • Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship
    • January
    • $750 local awards; up to $1,000 regionally and nationally
    • Contestants DO NOT have to be members of Mensa.
    • Essay of 550 words required, describing your career, vocational, or academic goals.

  • Texas Student Housing Program
    • January
    • Full or partial cost of an off-campus room for one year for students living at: Ballpark in Austin, Cambridge in College Station, Ridge at North Texas, Town Lake in Austin, or an alternate facility designated by TSH
    • Scholarships are renewable for subsequent years

  • Coolidge Scholarship
    • January
    • Full-ride scholarship (tuition, room, board and expenses for four years).  The top 100 applicants are offered $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Coolidge Senators Program in Washington, D.C.
    • Applicant must be a high school junior
    • Criteria include academic excellence, interest in public policy, genuine service to community
  • America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders – Monsanto Fund Scholarship
    • February
    • $1,500
    • for students pursuing an ag-related field of study
    • Program managed by the National FFA Scholarship Program, but applicants are not required to be FFA members
  • Hispanic Scholarship Consortium High School Scholarship Program
    • Various deadlines
    • Consortium offering a variety of $2,000-$5,000 renewable scholarships
    • Applicants must be of Hispanic descent, hold a minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and enroll in college full-time in fall 2012
    • Financial need, leadership aptitude and community service may be considered

  • Mitte Foundation Scholarship Program
    • March
    • $10,000 per academic year (4 year college) or $5,000 per academic year (2 year college)
    • Minimum high school gpa of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
    • Minimum test score of 1200 SAT or 25 ACT
    • Financial need: Expected Family Contribution (EFC) not to exceed $10,000
    • Strong evidence of community service and leadership
  • Texas Department of Transportation Conditional Grant Program
    • March
    • Up to $3,000 per semester or $6,000 per year
    • Must be pursuing a degree in civil engineering
    • For economically disadvantaged students
  • Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship
    • April
    • Up to $5,000 per year for a total of 5 years
    • Expressed purpose of this program is to help needy Texas students attend college. This may be used at any college or university in the United States.
    • Student must have at least a 3.0 (B) average
  • SeniorCare Aging Matters Scholarship
