Local Scholarships 

for students in Williamson County, Round Rock, Austin, and surrounding areas:

  • St. David's Neal Kocurek Scholarship
    • January (applications open in November)
    • up to $7,500 per year, up to four years in a Texas college
    • For students pursuing health professions, including Biomedical Engineering, Dentistry, Radiation, Oncology, Nursing, Optometry, Clinical Lab Technology
    • Applicant must graduate in Travis, Hays, Williamson, Bastrop or Caldwell county
    • Financial need may be considered

  • St. David’s Medical Center Healthcare Volunteers Scholarships
    • February
    • $3,000 per semester for two semesters
    • student must be accepted into a degreed healthcare program such as nursing, medicine, or physical therapy
    • volunteer service at St. David’s is not required, although volunteers are awarded additional consideration
  • A+ Federal Credit Union Scholarship
    • February
    • $1,000:
    • 4 to high school seniors pursuing an Education major
    • 2 to high school seniors pursuing major in other fields
    • Eligible applicants must be a current A+FCU member or immediate family is an A+FCU member. Student must attend a college or university in Texas

  • United Heritage Credit Union Community Scholarship
    • February
    • $5,000 (2 to be awarded)
    • Applicants must be United Heritage Credit Union members or related to a United Heritage member
    • Preference will be given to students with extraordinary community and civic service.
    • Criteria include community service, character and leadership qualities, extra-curricular activities, scholastic achievement, essay response, and letters of recommendation.

    • February
    • $250-$1,000
    • for African American females

  • Heart of Texas Counseling Association Scholarship
    • March
    • For students planning a career in an education or mental health-related field
    • Student’s counselor or parent must be a member of the HTCA

  • Capital City A&M Club Scholarship
    • March
    • $4,000 (10 scholarships awarded to Austin area students - $1,000 each semester for 4 semesters at Texas A&M)
    • Selection based on high school grades and SAT/ACT scores (30%), financial need (30%), extracurricular activities, community involvement, work experience (20%), and essays and letters of recommendation (20%)
    • Student must have already applied for admission to A&M.

  • Chaparral Women’s Club Spirit of Chaparral Scholarship

    • $2,500 (2 awarded)
    • for young women based on leadership in philanthropic or religious charities

    • Must be attending A&M next fall

  • Williamson County A&M Club Foundation Scholarship
    • April
    • $5,000 (5 to be awarded)
    • Student must be a Williamson County resident and planning to attend A&M (College Station or Galveston)
    • Criteria include academic achievement, need, extracurricular activities, community involvement, job history, and statements regarding expected academic major and reasons for wanting to attend TAMU

  • Gates Scholarship (formerly Gates Millennium Scholars) 
    • September
    • Renewable, need-based, merit scholarships, plus mentorship, peer connections and other resources in college
    • Eligible college majors include computer science, education, engineering, library science, math, public health, or science.
    • Eligible students must be a U.S. citizen, national or legal permanent resident, and either African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American
    • Minimum 3.3 GPA on unweighted 4.0 scale

    • September
    • National College Match program helps outstanding low-income students gain admission and full four-year scholarships to leading colleges. The 30 partner colleges include Yale, Stanford, Amherst, Emory, and MIT.
    • Students must come from households earning less than $65,000 annually for a typical family of four
    • Academic criteria include rank in top 10% of class, SAT 1310 or ACT 28, plus evidence of strong writing ability, intellectual spark and determination

  • Wendy’s High School Heisman
    • October
    • $1,000 for State winners; $5,000 for National Finalists; $10,000 awarded to one male and one female National winner

  • Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation
    • October
    • $20,000 – 150 scholarships awarded
    • Coca-Cola will award $3 million to highly motivated, dedicated, involved seniors.

  • VFW Voice of Democracy Essay Scholarship
    • October
    • Local, district, state, and national winners
    • For students in grades 9-12
    • Students must record an original 3-5 minute essay on the theme: “Is There Pride in Serving in Our Military?”

  • Prudential Spirit of Community Awards
    • November
    • $1,000 plus a trip to Washington, D.C.
    • To honor students who have given generously of their time and talents as a volunteer
    • Local Honoree will be selected from the applicants submitted by Meridian students by November 1
    • Local Honorees will compete for the $1,000 and trip to D.C., where the top 10 National Honorees will receive an additional $5,000

    • January

  • Coolidge Scholarship
    • January
    • Full-ride scholarship (tuition, room, board and expenses for four years).  The top 100 applicants are offered $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Coolidge Senators Program in Washington, D.C.
    • Applicant must be a high school junior
    • Deadline for 2022 is January 26, 5:00 pm EST
    • Criteria include academic excellence, interest in public policy, genuine service to community

  • America’s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders – Monsanto Fund Scholarship
    • February
    • $1,500
    • for students pursuing an ag-related field of study
    • Program managed by the National FFA Scholarship Program, but applicants are not required to be FFA members

  • Hispanic Scholarship Consortium High School Scholarship Program
    • Various deadlines
    • Consortium offering a variety of $2,000-$5,000 renewable scholarships
    • Applicants must be of Hispanic descent, hold a minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and enroll in college full-time in fall 2012

  • Mitte Foundation Scholarship Program
    • March
    • $10,000 per academic year (4 year college) or $5,000 per academic year (2 year college)

    • Financial need: Expected Family Contribution (EFC) not to exceed $10,000

  • Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund
    • Up to $2,200 per semester, based on financial need

    • Minimum GPA requirement 3.0
    • Minimum SAT 1100 or ACT 25
