Kristie Peña

Kristie Peña joined the Meridian staff in January 2018 as a first grade teacher. Kristie received her Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she received several honors. She is certified in early childhood through sixth grade. Kristie did her teaching internships in first grade, then she spent her first semester working as an intervention teacher at a school in the San Antonio area and remained at that school for the next three years teaching second grade. For two of those years, she worked with the special education collaborative team and was also a sponsor for campus activities.  

Kristie is passionate about the environment and sustainability, as well as international understanding. She is very excited to be in Austin and to be a part of the PYP at Meridian!
