About the 2025-2026  Basketball Season & Practices

  • Practices Are Required - This is a competitive season. Student athletes are expected to participate in 100% of all practices unless excused in advance by their coach. Student athletes are expected to give 100% effort in all practices unless they communicate with their coach about special circumstances for a particular practice.
  • Practice Amount -
    • Middle School teams practice up to twice a week, 1.5 hours each practice.
    • JV teams will practice up to three times weekly, 1.5 hours per practice.
    • Varsity teams practice up to three times weekly, 2 hours per practice.
  • Practice Times -
    • Students should arrive to practice on time, dressed out and with a full bottle of water.
    • Students participating in After School 6th-12th will be released by their coach in time to change and come to practice.
    • Please be sure to pick up your basketball player on time. Late pick-up fees apply.
  • Basketball players must practice with their own team. Accepting a spot on a team means agreeing to that team's practice schedule.
  • Practice Location - Most regular practice sessions will be in the Mays Gym, except when the Mays Gym is needed for Basketball games. The Overlap practice schedule will include the Primary Building Gym. During The Overlap, teams will be moved to the Mays Gym when it is available, such as when Volleyball has no practices and/or away games and when Volleyball teams have been eliminated in the playoffs. Please check The Overlap Schedule weekly for updates.
  • Length of Season - October 15 - February 15 (for teams advancing to State, otherwise, the season could end by January 28 if teams do not earn advancement.)
  • End of Season - Practices end when the last game of the season has been played. Advancement to playoffs must be earned and is not guaranteed. Teams who do not advance to playoffs could be done practicing by January 28.
  • SUBJECT TO CHANGE! - Teams’ practice schedules are subject to change based on the team’s availability due to games, the gyms’ availability, and the coach's availability.

 

Basketball/Volleyball Overlap Practice Schedule (October 13 - November 16)

The first five weeks of Basketball practice overlaps with Volleyball. This is known as The Overlap. Volleyball teams will keep their normal practice schedules as they conclude their regular season and advance to playoffs. Basketball teams’ practice schedules will be different each week during The Overlap based on gym and coach availability. The next week's schedule will be available by Thursday the week leading into it. (The first practice schedule for the first week of the Overlap will be available before Fall Break.)

 

Overlap Practice Schedule Week 1 October 14 - 19)

 

Overlap Practice Schedule Week 2 (October 20-26). (Camp Olympia for 8th graders October 22-24)

 

Overlap Practice Schedule Week 3 (October 27-November 2) - available by October 23 

 

Overlap Practice Schedule Week 4 (November 3 - November 9) - available by October30 

 

Overlap Practice Schedule Week 5 (November 10 - November 16) - available by November 6

 

Regular Practice Schedule (after The Overlap, November 17- February 11, if advancing to State)

  • The following is each team’s anticipated Regular Practice Schedule, which starts the week of November 17(after the Volleyball season ends).
  • To better prepare our teams for competition, coaches could choose to hold practices during school holidays such as Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break. Student athletes who are in town and do not have a previously scheduled, unavoidable conflict are expected to participate.
  • As practice schedules are subject to change, please be sure you are a member of your team’s TeamApp to stay up-to-speed on the changes to your practice schedule.
  • Most regular season practices are scheduled for the Mays Gym (unless otherwise specified). However, as the practice schedule is subject to change, practices could be moved to the Primary Building Gym due to necessity such as when we are hosting home Basketball games.

 

Regular Practice Schedule (starting the week of November 17)

Girls Varsity

Wednesdays: 5:15 - 7:15 p.m..

Thursdays: 4:15 - 6:15 p.m. (shared with Girls MS) 

Fridays: 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

 

Girls Middle School

Tuesdays: 5:45 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Thursdays: 4:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m. (shared with Girls Varsity)

 

Boys Varsity

Mondays: 4:15 - 6:15 p.m.

Tuesdays: 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. (shared with Boys JV Beast)

Wednesdays: 1:45 - 3:45 p.m.

 

Boys JV Beast

Mondays: 6:30 a.m. -8:00 a.m.

Tuesdays: 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. (shared with Boys Varsity)

Wednesdays: 3:45 - 5:15 p.m.

 

Boys JV Bold

Tuesdays: 4:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

Wednesdays: 6:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Thursdays: 6:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

 

Boys MS Beast & Boys MS Bold (shared practices)

Tuesdays: 7:15 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.

Thursdays: 6:15 - 7:45 p.m.

  

First practice financial eligibility - Must be financially eligible to begin practicing. This means the participation fee must be paid (or the first 50% must be paid if on a payment plan) before the student can start practicing.
