At Meridian, we want all students to have the greatest ability to learn and develop to their highest potential. The guidance program is designed around the four components recommended by TEA (the Texas Education Agency) for a comprehensive counseling and guidance program:
     Guidance curriculum:  Classroom lessons are developed to provide models for, and instructs students for skills in careers, academic, and personal/social development for all students.

     Individual planning:  Activities are coordinated to help students plan, monitor, and manage their own learning in the areas of academic, career, and person/social development.

  • Assistance and Monitoring Attendance

     Response Services:  These services respond and react to the immediate needs of students in terms of a crisis in the school, family, or community.

     System Support:  The following activities establish, maintain, and enhance the program using data to implement components in the overall program:
  • Consultation with Staff and Parents
  • Consultation with Mental Health Professionals and Community Social Services Agencies 
  • Data Gathering and Interpretation
  • Attendance at Professional Conferences
  • Participation in District and School Communities
