Overview
Competitive Girls Volleyball is open to current 6th-12th / rising 7th-12th grade students. Ultimately the teams formed will depend on registration and tryouts. We hope to form up to four Girls Volleyball teams (Varsity, JV, MS Beast, and MS Bold).
New for 2026! We hope to form up to two Boys Volleyball teams (Varsity and possibly JV). Ultimately the teams formed will depend on registration and tryouts. Competitive Boys Varsity Volleyball is open to current 7th - 12th / rising 8th-12th grade students. Competitive Boys JV Volleyball is open to current 8th - 12th / rising 9th-12th grade students.
New this year!
As communicated since January 28, tryouts will be this May! One of the advantages to teams being formed in May is that they can start training together over the summer! Please find each team’s Summer Training Schedule on Practices. 100% participation in Summer Training is expected from each team member. Those that have previously scheduled, unavoidable conflicts should communicate with their coach privately as soon as the team forms in order to pursue an excused absence for a missed Summer Training practice.
Another advantage to teams being formed in May is that they can start training for regular practices as soon as school starts for the year!

Game Schedule
Meridian Girls Middle School Volleyball is participating in the Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League (TCSAAL). Each Girls Middle School team will have up to eight regular season league games and additional non-league games. The Middle School teams will be entered into one tournament – the Meridian Labor Day Classic.
Meridian High School Volleyball is playing in the Honor Charter Athletics League (HCAL) in fall 2026. Varsity Volleyball will have up to 10 league games and up to four non-league games. JV Volleyball will have up to 8 league games. All HCAL regular season league games are played on Tuesdays and Fridays. Non-league games can be any other weekday evening or Saturday. Varsity and JV Volleyball will be entered into up to three tournaments, including the Meridian Labor Day Classic and the Aggieland Tournament. The dates and cities for HCAL Regionals and State are expected to be available in August.
Advancement to league playoffs must be earned by each team. The season for each team ends when that team's competitions end.
The Game Schedule will be available in early August. Teams will have about two games a week. A third game in a week or a tournament that week will likely result in a cancelled practice. Girls Middle School Volleyball games can be any weekday evening or on Saturdays. High School Volleyball league games will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Volleyball Game Schedule will be available in August and is subject to change.

Lettering & Letter Jackets
Lettering in an extracurricular activity is reserved for high school students who participate at the highest level, which for Volleyball means Varsity. The following were the Lettering requirements for Volleyball for 2025-2026.
- Participation Level Requirement - The student athlete must participate on the Varsity team in at least a portion of at least 75% of all the team's regular season, Varsity-level, interscholastic games. Does not include tournaments, Adults/Staff vs. Students games, or playoffs.
Student Managers: Must be a member of a Varsity or Varsity-level team and perform all duties well throughout the season as communicated by the coach. Participation Amount requirements also apply.
- Participation Amount & Quality Requirement -
- Promptly attending all practices and exhibitions (unless excused in advance by the coach or by a Standing Conflict Waiver, which was approved by the Athletic Coordinator). To be nominated to letter, students cannot have any unexcused absences.
- Always demonstrating a positive attitude toward their sport, teammates, and opponents.
- Consistently showing that they are working their hardest and showing outstanding effort.
The lettering requirements for 2026-2027 will be similar and they will be published in September. Visit Letter Jackets & Lettering for more information.
