Overview
HOSA (Future Health Professionals) is a national student organization for high school students interested in medicine and health science careers. As part of a 350,000+ member international community, Meridian HOSA members can attend conferences, network with professionals, and join workshops that prepare them for a future in healthcare. It helps teens build leadership skills and explore jobs within healthcare. HOSA provides opportunities to compete in medical conferences at the regional and state levels! HOSA officers are ready to support all of our members.
Participating in HOSA includes:
- Testing Events - Students can show off their knowledge on specific fields and topics.
- Leadership Events- Students can take charge and build on their public speaking and time management skills.
- Health Professions Events- Clinical, hands-on procedures are combined with a written test and live skills demonstration.
- Emergency Preparedness Events - The focus is on emergency response and rescue skills through simulated scenarios.
- Teamwork Events - Collaborate among groups of two or more students to solve problems or present health-related concepts.
- Recognition Events - Instead of competing against peers, students are evaluated against a set benchmark or standard to earn certificates or pins.
Participants
2026-2027 Meridian HOSA is open to Meridian high school students. Before registering, the student should attend the Interest Meeting or a make-up meeting equivalent. Officer prerequisites will be shared with members before the next leadership selection.
The minimum number of participants required for this club to form is 50.
Student Commitment Expectation
Students who do not participate at the same level and frequency in their competitive extracurricular activity negatively impact the group’s performance, morale, and culture.
- For competitive extracurricular activities such as HOSA, all members are expected to attend all weekly meetings.
- For competitive extracurricular activities, such as HOSA, students who know they have a regular conflict are encouraged to choose between conflicting activities before registering.

Thursday, August 20 - Interest Meeting
Wednesday, August 26 - Registration opens.
Thursday, September 3 - Registration ends at 9 PM. No late registration available.
Friday, September 4 - Annual Participation Fee invoices issued in MySchoolBucks
Thursday, September 10 - Official meetings start this week. Must be registered to participate.
Thursday, September 10 - Annual Participation Fees are due.
October (TBD) - Fall Leadership Conference (for all HOSA members)
May (TBD) - Last meeting and end of year celebration
Meeting Information
Interest Meeting: Thursday, August 20 from 4:15 -5:15 PM in H1.05
Weekly Meetings: Weekly on Thursdays from 4:15 PM - 5:15 PM in H1.03 and H1.05 (downstairs Biology and Chemistry rooms). All meetings will be mandatory unless stated otherwise by the officer team. The first official meeting is Thursday, September 10. Students must be successfully registered for 2026-2027 HOSA to attend this and subsequent meetings.
Testing
Members will participate in Testing Events to qualify for the Spring Leadership Conference.
Unlike other competitive clubs, HOSA members have the opportunity to attend both competitive and non-competitive conferences. At the non-competitive conference, experience various medical enrichment experiences, such as learning about phlebotomy, dentistry, medical leadership, and more! At competitive conferences, HOSA members can compete on an international stage by choosing from 80+ events. Whether they are interested in a healthcare career or not, there are opportunities for everyone through networking and building leadership skills!
All HOSA members will participate in the non-competitive Fall Leadership Conference. Students who qualify based on testing can participate in the Spring Leadership Conference. Students who earn advancement can participate in the Texas State Leadership Conference.
The tentative Conference Schedule is published before registration opens to help families plan. Conference details will be updated before the Commitment Window opens for that conference.
Additional Service/Enrichment Opportunities
Outside of HOSA-sponsored events, Meridian HOSA works to provide members with countless opportunities to enrich their learning and prepare them for their future. Not only are we heavily involved within the school community through our annual Founder’s Day Bake Sale, Pie-a-Teacher fundraiser, and interactive room at the Arts and Sciences Fest, but we also work to provide members with new skills. We plan to continue to offer certifications as well as medical skill workshops in suturing, phlebotomy, and more! We hope that all members can benefit from Meridian HOSA’s resources.
Eligibility

- Students must be academically eligible to participate in competitions.
- Students must be financially eligible to participate in meetings and competitions.
- Students must maintain their Character in Good Standing eligibility, which requires that students adhere to the Meridian Student & Parent Handbook and the HOSA Terms for Participation.
This experience has three types of fees
- Registration/Processing Fee
- Annual Membership Participation Fee
- Conference Participation Fees
Financial assistance for participation fees is available to those who need it. Please see Financial Assistance.
Students and parents/guardians must thoroughly read and agree to the Terms for Participation prior to completing and submitting the Registration Form and paying the registration fee.
Registration is now open and ends at 9 PM. on Thursday, September 3.
No late registration is available.
Supervised After School Care with "After School 6-12"
If you are unable to consistently pick up your student immediately after their after-school activity or activities, we encourage you to register them for After School 6–12. The cost is $100 per semester. Please note that After School 6–12 ends at 5:45 p.m., and late fees begin accruing at 5:46 p.m. Learn more about registering for After School 6-12.
Policy for Pick-up from After School Clubs
Lettering
Lettering in an extracurricular activity is reserved for the highest level of participation. Lettering requirements will be similar to the 2025-2026 Lettering Requirements and will be published before Fall Break.
