Forgotten Lunch Policy

At Meridian, we understand that mornings can be hectic, and sometimes a packed lunch can be forgotten. If a student is unable to reach a parent or guardian to supply a lunch, we promise that student will not go hungry! We will ensure that our students will receive a healthy and tasty school lunch.

The student's meal account will be charges and the parents or guardians will be notified via email.

Dropped Lunch or Spoiled Food Policy

If a student has dropped or spilled their lunch (from school or home) before they have had the chance to eat it, the Meridian Café will replace their meal for free. A notice will be sent to the parents or guardians via email.

If a student's lunch from home has spoiled (determined by administration and staff members who monitor the cafeteria), a school lunch will be provided. A notice will be sent to the parents or guardians via email.

Negative Account Balances

At Meridian World School, we do not believe in taking away food from students/children. If a student is hungry and has a negative account balance, they will still be fed, happily! Please note that the Child Nutrition Director will immediately contact parents or guardians, first by email, then by phone call, and finally by mail to discuss the charges on the account. If our efforts fail, the Meridian School District Business Office will proceed to contact parents/guardians in an effort to reduce debt.

Our school lunch program is designed to be self-sufficient. This means that our kitchen staff and program Director work diligently to offer a fresh and scratch made meals every day without requiring extra funds from our school budget. It is imperative that every family understands that we cannot afford to have unpaid school meal balances. Our District must cover any negative accounts and allow our meal program to enter each school year debt free. These funds take away from any programs that would normally go towards educational programs or supplemental needs to support our teaching staff. Simply said, we cannot afford to give food away for free and continue to have a successful food program at our amazing school.

There are two ways families can pay for school lunches:

1. Open a MySchoolBucks account by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com
2. By check or cash dropped off to any of our school offices. Be sure your payment is in a labeled envelope with your student's name and school meals. We can manually update your account.

If you ever have any questions regarding your student's lunch account, please email our Child Nutrition Director at [email protected].
