Practices

Although there will not be official practices during the summer, Cross Country runners are expected to train independently and follow the Summer Conditioning Schedule. Athletes are expected to be in running shape for tryouts. Practices start on Monday, August 12. There will be practices during Fall Break. 

 

Practice Schedule (8/12 - 10/10)

  • PRACTICE 1: Mondays: 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. @ San Gabriel Park, Georgetown
  • PRACTICE 2: Wednesdays: 6:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. @ Meridian World School
  • PRACTICE 3: Thursdays: 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. @ Old Settlers Park, Round Rock

(Please pick-up students on time. Late pick-up fees apply.)

 

Practice Expectations

  • HS students are expected to participate in 3 practices a week, unless excused beforehand by Coach Manuszak.
  • MS students are expected to participate in 2 practices a week (student chooses from the 3 practices offered each week), unless excused beforehand by Coach Burwick.

 

Practice Attire

  • Athletic shirt
  • Athletic shorts
  • Running shoes
  • Refillable water bottle (labeled)

Weather/Temperature Policy

The Weather Watch chart indicates that a heat index of 106 degrees is in the red (danger). Based on this, our policy is:

  • Below 106 degrees:
    • Practice with implementation of frequent breaks and hydration.
    • Do not run if you are uncomfortable
  • Above 106 degrees: No practice

First practice financial eligibility - Must be financially eligible to begin practicing. This means the participation fee must be paid (or the first 50% must be paid if on a payment plan) before the student can start practicing.
