Competitive Flag Football - Fall 2026 Season

|
Registration is now closed. There is no late registration for Flag Football.
Registration numbers look good for Middle School Flag Football.
For Varsity Flag Football, we will consider inviting a couple of rising 8th graders to play up to the Varsity team. Ultimately, the forming of the Varsity team will depend on tryouts.
Please expect cuts.

About Meridian Flag Football
This is Meridian’s third season of Flag Football. All of our competitions will be within our league – Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League (TCSAAL). We will have host home games in the greater Austin area.
2026 Teams
The number and level of teams to be formed will depend on registration and tryouts. We hope to form a coed Middle School and a coed Varsity team. Participation in tryouts is required to be considered for a team, and cuts are expected.

Tryouts
Participation in tryouts is required. Students must be registered and physically eligible to try out. See Tryouts.
Practices
Teams are forming in the spring so they can start training over the summer.
There is mandatory practice during the summer to help the team prepare for an early competition schedule. Any previously scheduled unavoidable conflicts must be cleared by the coach prior to missing a Summer Training session in order for the absence to be excused. The Summer Training is from 8 - 10 a.m. Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31. (Locations vary by day. Please see Practices.)
Regular practices start the first day of school, Wednesday, August 12.
Middle School practices twice a week, 90-minutes for each practice.
Varsity practices three times a week. Two 2-hour practices on the field + one 1-hour conditioning on campus.
See Practices for the schedule.
Game Schedule
Each team will have up to eight regular season games. Advancement to playoffs must be earned by the team. The season ends when competitions end.
The Game Schedule will be available in early August. Teams will have about two games a week. Games can be any weekday evening or on Saturdays. When a game is scheduled on a practice day, the practice is likely to be cancelled.
Coaches
Chris Grant, Head Coach (or Varsity coach if both teams form).
Brian Ruiz, Associate Head Coach (or Middle School coach if both teams form).
See Coaches.
