Meet Ms. Beckham, incoming orchestra teacher

Ms. BeckhamHello Meridian! My name is Ms. Beckham, and I will be your Orchestra teacher starting next year!  Music has brought so much joy to my life, and I am here to guide you in hopes that you may experience some of the same joy.

I started playing violin in the Suzuki Program when I was 4 in Arlington, Texas.  My mom taught MS & HS Orchestra, and my brother played cello.  I grew up playing classical music, and while attending Texas A&M University, I fell in love with the versatility of the violin and began learning other musical styles. In 2006, I moved to Austin to play fiddle with touring bands and learn luthiery, the art of stringed instrument repair. I am the mother to two beautiful children, ages 9 and 12, and began my journey in music education in 2014 after they were born.  As I plan for next year, I am most enthusiastic about working with the wonderful students here at Meridian!

PLUS – Registration opens May 14 for After School Orchestra for rising 7th-8th grade musicians!

Reminder: Incoming 7th Grade Vaccination Requirements

Per Texas DSHS, students going into the 7th grade are required to have updated immunizations of TDaP and the Meningococcal MCV4 vaccine. Your student will not be able to start the 25-26 school year without proof of these immunizations. Please email your student's updated immunization record to the nurse.

Our students have prepared pieces from a wide variety of genres—some of which will sound very familiar to all! Together, we’ll celebrate a shared passion for music, the beauty of song, and the joy of singing and playing together as a community. We look forward to seeing you there!

6th Grade Design Project

This quarter, students in 6th grade Design class used their design skills to help their community through a service project. They reached out to city council members, service organization leaders, and city workers to see what problems they might be able to solve. See some of the community service projects that have come from this research!
