Academic Eligibility
As we approach the end of the grading period, students are encouraged to work hard to finish strong. Please make sure all missing assignments that are still being accepted are completed and submitted. Please take advantage of any remaining opportunities to retake summative assessments. Students who have an incomplete or are failing any classes on their grading period 2 report card will lose academic eligibility as of Monday, January 12. Students who are academically ineligible cannot compete or perform with their extracurricular activities.

Soccer
Teams are formed! Kickoff meetings are this week and so are first practices. Students must be financially eligible to participate in practice. All participants and their parents/guardians should now be in their TeamApp Team and season's Access Group. The Soccer Game Schedule will be available in late January.
Tennis
The 2026 Middle School and Varsity Tennis teams have formed. The kickoff meeting is this week. (Please see your Welcome email or TeamApp for details.) The first practice is after Winter Break. All participants and their parents/guardians should now be in their TeamApp Team and season's Access Group. The Tennis Match Schedule will be available in January.
Dance Team
The competition schedule is now available for the Fierce Dance Team. Come roar for our dancing Lions!
Winter Dance Camp
Over the last couple of years. Fierce Dance Team has hosted a Winter Dance Camp for students in grades K-5. This camp will not be offered in the winter this year; however, the Dance Team coach and Athletic Coordinator are discussing the idea of offering it in the spring instead. Please watch your campus newsletters and the Athletics Newsletter for more information.
The Athletics Department will be closed over Winter Break. Please plan accordingly.

Student Commitment Expectations for Competitive Sports
Students who wish to participate in competitive sports are expected to participate in every practice and be available to participate in every competition.
Students who know they have an existing conflict that will interfere with their ability to participate as much as the coach and their teammates expect are encouraged to submit a Standing Conflict Waiver.

The Meridian Mays Gym (in the Middle School building) is home to 6 Volleyball teams and 7 Basketball teams!
Home Gym Admissions:
Cash and credit card accept.
$5 adults; $1 for adults wearing Meridian spirit wear; $3 for students not wearing Meridian spirit wear or school uniform.
Meridian staff always admitted for FREE with their badge.
Families of our teams that are playing are admitted for FREE to home games at Meridian w/ their Family Pass.
New for 2025-2026! Meridian students will be admitted for free into home Volleyball and Basketball games when wearing Meridian spirit wear or Meridian school uniform!
