Health & Safety in Meridian Athletics
The Athletics Department
The Athletics Department collaborates with school administration to ensure our programs are safe and healthy for our student athletes.
Meridian World School does not participate in the UIL; however, we do follow Sec. 33.201-207 of the Texas State Education Code in various ways through Texas Charter School Academic and Athletic League, Red Cross, the CDC, and other entities that provide health and safety training.

Emergency Equipment Access:
- Automated External Defibrillator - The AEDs are located just outside each gym.
- Bleeding Control Stations - Located outside each gym.
Meridian Coaches
All Meridian Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to maintain the following certifications:
- CPR
- First Aid
- Concussion
All Meridian Coaches and Assistant Coaches are required to review the following:
- Effective Communication with 9-1-1 Dispatch
- Tips for Preventing Heat Related Illness
- Meridian's Standard Response Protocol safety training
Health & Safety Education for Parents/Guardians & Student Athletes
Guardians and student athletes are encouraged to reference and use these health and safety tools before and during their sports experiences:

- Vaping
- According to the Meridian Parent/Student Handbook, vaping or possessing vaping paraphernalia on campus or at off-campus activities in which Meridian is participating, including Meridian sporting events, is a violation of the code of conduct and can result in expulsion. Violations of the Meridian Parent/Student Handbook, including vaping and possessing vaping paraphernalia, could result in removal from the sport/team. If such violation occurs during a Meridian Athletics event or experience, the Athletics Department will report it to School administration. If a student athlete is suspected of vaping or having vaping paraphernalia in their possession, the Athletics Department will investigate.
