Each student must be registered for each sport experience in which they would like to participate.
 
Competitive Sports Experiences are for 7th-12th grade students unless otherwise specified.
Developmental/Pre-Season Sports Experiences are available to 6th grade students;
however spots are limited, so please register early.
Summer Camps are available to rising 7th-12th grade students unless otherwise specified.

2024 Spring Dance Clinic - NOW CLOSED

Clinic on Saturday, April 27, 9am-3pm.

For rising 7th-12th grades, all genders

Not required in order to register and try out for the 2024-25 Dance Team season (separate registration). This clinic is designed to be helpful students who want to work on their skills before tryouts.

2024-2025 Dance Team - NOW OPEN! Competitive/Performance Season

  • Mandatory pre-tryout practices on 4/30, 5/2, and 5/3 from 4:20-5:50pm. Pre-tryout practices are required for dancers to learn the compulsory routine for tryouts.
  • Tryouts required. Tryouts are Sat., 5/4 from 9am-2pm.
Teams anticipated:
  • Fierce Dance Team = rising 7th-12th grades (competes at the JV level)
  • Dance Team Officers = rising 9th-12th grades (competes at the Varsity level and is eligible to letter)

Minimum number of qualified, dedicated participants needed to form each group.

2024 Cross Country - Competitive Season

No tryouts, but must qualify for each meet. Cross Country runners are expected to be dedicated to their sport and participate in meets. This is not a developmental (training only) experience.

Middle School Teams = rising 7th-8th grades

High School Teams = rising 9th-12th grades

Starts training when school starts in August.

Meets and practices during Fall Break.

re: Swimming and Baseball
Due to insufficient registration in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, and because these sports are very costly to offer, Meridian did not offer these sports in 2023-2024 and is not planning to have these sports for the 2024-2025 academic year. However, if significant commitment can be demonstrated in a timely fashion, this could change.
 
Significant commitment = At least 20 high school students and their parents/guardians who are able to provide a commitment fee and sport-specific contacts and resources.
 
Timing for being able to offer the sport:
  • Swimming would need to be planned by April of the year before it is to be offered. Significant commitment would need to be demonstrated by February of the year before Swimming is to be offered.
  • Baseball would need to be planned by October of the school year it would be offered. Significant commitment would need to be demonstrated by  August of the school year Baseball is to be offered.
 
To facilitate achieving a significant commitment in a sport, students are encouraged to join club/select teams with other Meridian Lions. Doing so can generate interest in the sport, start a Meridian community for that sport, and keep student athletes competitive in their sport until there is enough interest to offer the sport at a school level.
