Meridian Athletics

Moving to HCAL
Meridian Athletics will be moving all teams to HCAL for the 2026–2027 academic year.
This year, Boys Varsity Volleyball and both Varsity Soccer teams participated in the Honor Charter Athletic League (HCAL), and we were very pleased with the level and quality of competition they experienced. Our original plan was to move only our Varsity teams to HCAL, but TCSAAL does not allow participation across multiple leagues, so we have made the decision to transition all teams.
In addition to stronger and more consistent competition, several sports will benefit from slightly longer seasons, and teams will have more standardized game days across the league. Below are the designated game days for High School and Middle School sports. While occasional schedule exceptions may occur, these will be the primary competition days.
High School Game Days
Volleyball: Tuesdays & Fridays
Basketball: Tuesdays & Fridays
Soccer: Wednesdays & Saturdays
Flag Football: Wednesdays & Saturdays
Middle School Game Days
Soccer: Wednesdays & Saturdays
Flag Football: Wednesdays & Saturdays
Volleyball: Primarily Thursdays, with some Mondays
Basketball: Primarily Thursdays, with some Mondays
HCAL’s philosophy emphasizes growth and development at the middle school level. Because of this, Middle School teams will have the opportunity to advance to Regionals, but not State Championships. Advancement to State competition will be reserved for Varsity teams, similar to the varsity lettering model.
